Cheetah Classroom
3 years to 5 years
Welcome to the Cheetah Classroom! Our Preschool-2 classroom is licensed by DCFS for 20 children ages 3 years thru 5 years. The teacher to child ratio is 1:10 as the children have become more independent but still need a lot of guidance. We focus on preparing children for kindergarten, working on a large variety developmental skills. This is one of our three preschool classrooms that uses Creative Curriculum offering appropriate, whole-child learning experiences.
Meet the Teachers:
Hailey Melvin
Hailey joined our team as a School Age teacher in 2023 later transitioning to the preschool age group. She recently completed her CDA which makes her DCFS teacher qualified. Prior to starting at NSCC, Hailey was a behavioral therapist tech for over three years. Her favorite part of working with children is building those strong bonds with children and their families. She loves having a positive impact on the children and watching them grow & learn.
Kaci DeFord
Kaci has been a substitute at NSCC since 2017. She joined our team full time in 2026 as the second teacher in our Cheetah room. Kaci is a mom of 3 and loves all things outdoors and spending time with her friends. Her favorite part of working with children is the bond she forms with each of them and their families.
